| The first strike was the extremely poor implementation of the i-Drive in the 7-Series. Now I find out I can install BT in my 2003 X5 but not my much higher-priced, newer 2004 545i (bought the 2003 used)! yet they managed to cram in SOS which I could give a fig about since I view it as a pure money-making scheme--a cell phone call to AAA is cheaper as are AAA memberships. I am very disappointed to find out how careless BMW has been with this new generation of sedans. Anyone hae a solution for this problem? I suppose an after-market kit is the only recourse at this point but I expect those will be far less integrated. What a shame. |

Actually the folks at eiskits.com said that they have done some initial work and a fully integrated bluetooth solution is possible - however they are waiting to see if BMW offers a retrofit once it is available on the 2005/6 E60 before they invest the R&D time. the only fully intefrated option for you now would be a moto V60 - which wouldn't cost that much actually but then again you couldn't use it in both cars which the bluetooth would remedy.
I guess the word on the street is to be patient. Someone will make a kit for this car I'm sure!
BTW the 545 is a hell of a car! |

I have it on good word that a fully integrated bluetooth system for the E60 and the 02-05 7series will be unvieled at the SEMA show in November.
